An automated vision and sensor-driven footfall analytics platform that delivers continuous occupancy tracking, flow-direction analysis, and dwell-time metrics across industrial facilities, retail spaces, and corporate environments.
The Challenge
Managing physical facilities—whether ensuring fire-code compliance on a factory floor, optimizing staff deployment across large venues, or evaluating retail layout efficiency—requires precise, real-time spatial intelligence. Traditional methods like manual tallying, beam-break sensors, or basic security camera sweeps fail to handle heavy crowds, generate massive counting errors during group entries, and cannot distinguish bi-directional traffic. Without accurate, continuous movement data, site managers are left guessing space utilization, leading to unaddressed congestion choke points and poor operational resource allocation.
What We Built
We engineered an intelligent footfall analytics and spatial monitoring application that connects directly to overhead optical sensors, stereo vision cameras, and edge AI detection nodes. The system processes live spatial streams to detect, track, and classify pedestrian movement across virtual tripwires and defined zones without storing personally identifiable visual data. Operating in real time, the platform computes instantaneous occupancy, net flow rates, and dwell-time distributions, displaying live spatial telemetry on an intuitive dashboard while logging structured historical analytics for long-term operational planning.
Key Capabilities
- Bi-Directional Boundary Tracking: Real-time directional vectoring that accurately separates simultaneous ingress and egress across wide entryways, corridors, and turnstiles.
- Multi-Zone Occupancy Monitoring: Continuous calculation of live headcounts within designated operational zones, complete with dynamic alerts when capacity thresholds are approached or exceeded.
- Dwell-Time & Heatmap Analytics: Algorithmic tracking of loitering, queue build-up, and high-traffic transition paths to highlight physical bottlenecks and optimize floor layouts.
- Privacy-First Edge Processing: Pure geometric and trajectory metadata extraction at the edge, ensuring zero facial recognition or biometric video storage for full privacy compliance.
- Automated Trend & Capacity Reporting: Centralized aggregation of peak-traffic hours, conversion ratios, and day-over-day utilization curves with automated export to operations and facility management platforms.
Outcome
Replaced rough estimation and manual headcounts with deterministic, real-time spatial data. Facility managers and operations teams gain complete, 24/7 visibility into how spaces are navigated, allowing them to optimize safety thresholds, streamline floor traffic, and make infrastructure investments backed by verifiable occupancy analytics.
