A dedicated desktop application that automates sequence execution and breakdown detection for Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) testing, delivering traceable, audit-ready test certificates.
The Challenge
The Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) evaluates an insulating material’s resistance to electrical breakdown under voltage and liquid contamination. The test demands strict precision: electrolyte drops must strike the sample at exact intervals while electrodes sustain high test voltages. Manually timing intervals, tallying drop counts, and visually spotting the exact millisecond of dielectric puncture introduces operator bias into a critical safety rating.
What We Built
We engineered a desktop control and monitoring suite specifically for the CTI test apparatus. The software manages the sequence, synchronizes drop delivery, detects electrical puncture the instant current limits trip, and archives complete run diagnostics. Every specimen is tested under identical conditions, removing human subjectivity from electrical safety qualification.
Key Capabilities
- Unified Test Setup: Configure test voltage, target drop counts, and interval timing from a single operator screen.
- Automated Dosing Sequence: Precision software-driven drop dispensing and interval timing, eliminating manual tallying.
- Real-Time Breakdown Detection: Continuous monitoring of leakage current with immediate cutoff triggering upon insulation failure.
- Structured Sample Traceability: Complete test records indexed by batch ID, material grade, electrode condition, and applied voltage.
- Instant Certificate Generation: Pass/fail outcomes, breakdown drop thresholds, and voltage ratings compiled into an audit-ready compliance report immediately.
Outcome
Standardized CTI qualification into a repeatable, hands-off procedure. The system eliminates timing drift and observation errors, ensuring every test run terminates in a verified, tamper-proof result certificate.
